Busy Thanksgiving week and a fitness revelation.

First of course, came work.  Worked Mon, Tue, and Wed nights, so I got off work about 6:15am Thur morning.  Actually, it was easier work than usual, cause the doctors try hard to clean house, so to speak, meaning getting people home for the holiday if possible.  No scheduled surgeries were on tap, so that cuts down on the patient list, and the couple people that might have stayed, well, they went home cause who the heck wants to be in the hospital for any major holiday?

Of course, I slept some on Thur, then woke up and headed to my sister's for dinner.  Hubby and our youngest were already there, along with other members of my family. Had a great meal!  And it was nice to see everyone.  After a couple hours, headed home, and took a nap.  Thought I'd sleep about 20 mins but that turned into more than an hour.  Guess I was tired.

Fri, I went to Crossfit and tried to burn off a little of Thanksgiving.  Here's the WOD we all did.
Kind of hard to see, but it was a Hero WOD, meaning a WOD ( aka workout) that honors people Crossfit considers heros.  Military who were killed in combat who were Crossfitters.  Police killed in duty who were Crossfitters.  This on was honoring a police member killed. Its a combo of his two favorite workouts.  A lot of us wore blue to honor all our police members everywhere.

I've also had a small revelation.  I found a new You Tube channel to watch  Dr Sara Solomon. She's a dentist who was also a fitness competitor.  Rather successful too I think.  Anyway, about a year ago, she went from training for pure aesthetics to training for getting fitter, getting better at stuff like pullups, running, that sort of thing.  I've watched her videos for a couple weeks now, and its really got me to thinking.  I've been only working out to lose weight.  Not for anything else, and its really not gotten me much of anything.   But the first time I started Crossfit, I was concentrating on getting better at things like deadlifts, pushups, almost getting my first pullup, and I lost weight and was starting to get fitter.

So why am I not doing this now?  Why am I not just putting my focus on just getting fitter?  Trying to improve my squat form, increase the weights I lift. Run faster, or run at all lol.

So I'm working on switching my thinking that I'm training. I'm  working towards just getting fitter.  I want to run faster and longer.  I want to lift heavier.  I want to be a fitter person.  So I need to train.  And I need to eat to fuel my training. Ok, so that will have to wait until next week lol.  But I've started working at home to get fitter. I have a pullup bar rigged up, ok, so its my olympic bar set up high, but it works.  I've worked on squat form.  Ab mat sit ups. Snatch form.  Overhead squats.  If I can perfect form at home, my workouts will get better.

I think I'm going to look towards getting a treadmill so I can work on running at home during the winter.  I'm going to use my rower and spin bike to improve my cardio capacity too.  I'm going to be a fit person!
